"Looks nice, but I kind of regret expecting more"
I have to admit, it can look really impressive sometimes, especially the planes and the cockpits. Those parts made me think I was in for something amazing. But then you notice some of the ground textures looking dated, and it kind of pulls you out of it. The lighting is hit or miss too — sometimes it looks great, other times it feels flat. I don’t totally dislike it, but I do regret getting my hopes up as much as I did.

"Takes some patience, but it pays off"
DCS definitely isn’t something you just jump into and instantly understand. At least for me, it took a bunch of YouTube tutorials, forum posts, and trial and error before things started making sense. I kind of suspect some people make it look easier than it really is because they’ve been doing flight sims forever, but who knows. The in-game training missions helped a lot, and once I got past that early confusion, it became really satisfying. I’m still figuring new stuff out all the time, but that’s part of why I keep coming back. If you’re okay with learning slowly, it’s a really great sim

"Multiplayer finally feels steady"
I remember how frustrating it used to be when matches would lag out right when things got good, so it’s a relief that online play feels mostly stable now. I still get a random hiccup here and there, but overall it runs fine and doesn’t ruin the experience like it used to

"Great sim, but wow, the DLC adds up"
I really do like DCS, the planes feel awesome and there’s nothing quite like finally getting a decent takeoff or figuring out some random switch you ignored for a week. But then you look at the store and it’s like, hold on, one jet costs almost as much as a whole game? And then you still need maps, campaigns, maybe another module because the one you actually want is different, and suddenly I’m doing math instead of flying.

Sales definitely make it easier, and I usually wait for them because paying full price feels rough. Some DLC feels worth it, some of it not so much, and it kind of depends on what you’re into, or how patient you are, or whether you’ve already fallen down the flight sim rabbit hole. Great sim overall, but the pricing can make it feel like you need to pass a wallet inspection before you even get in the cockpit.

"Got Hooked After My First Proper Flight"
I’ve been flying in DCS for a while now, and I still remember loading into one of my first full-fidelity aircraft and just sitting in the cockpit for a minute, looking around like, “Okay, this is serious.” The level of detail really pulled me in. Some of the modules definitely take time to learn, and I’ve had plenty of moments where I was flipping switches and wondering what I messed up, but that’s part of what makes it fun. When it finally clicks and you get the aircraft started, take off, and complete a mission, it feels really rewarding. The cockpits look fantastic, the systems have a lot of depth, and the flying itself just feels right. Not every module I’ve tried is perfect, but most of the ones I’ve bought have absolutely felt worth the money

"The flying feels great and the systems..."
The flying feels great and the systems are impressively detailed, which I really appreciate. That said, getting all my controls set up took way longer than I expected, and some of the extra modules feel a bit expensive. If you're patient and into the depth, it's worth it, but it can be a little frustrating at first.

"Awesome sim, but the performance feels like a bait and switch"
I really want to love DCS because the sim itself is genuinely cool, but the performance has been frustrating. It kind of feels like a bait and switch sometimes, you see how amazing it looks and how deep the gameplay is, then you actually load in and deal with stutters, long load times, and constant tweaking just to make it playable. I’ve lowered settings more than I’d like, and it still doesn’t run as smoothly as I’d expect on my PC. Updates come out, but optimization never really seems to improve much. Great simulator underneath it all, just way too heavy and rough around the edges
